Link to Volunteer Sign Ups By School

Dear Volunteers,

Thank you for taking the time to volunteer at Big Blue Bargains Thrift Shop.  We would not be as successful as we are without your time commitment.

One of the benefits of volunteering is that you receive half off your purchases.  Boutique, items marked ‘firm’ and other items may be excluded.  Due to the high volume of donations keeping us busy, our lack of storage space and to keep things equitable, we have come up with the following policies when it comes to purchases:

  • Half off applies only on the day you volunteer on items on the floor and racks.
  • In order to receive half off, you must work at least a 2 hour shift
  • Payment is due on the day of purchase
  • We are no longer able to hold items without payment

We routinely mark down boutique and ‘firm’ items that haven’t sold within a reasonable time period.  These items are displayed in the front of the store.  If something has caught your eye be sure to keep checking back!

Thank you for your understanding and your continued support!

*NOTE:  We welcome student volunteers grades 7-8 with a parent or guardian.  High school students can come on their own.

About Us

Big Blue Bargains opened their doors in January 2012 after two years of planning.  We benefit the Swampscott Public Schools by providing a continuous resource of funds to enhance cultural enrichment programs.  We benefit the Swampscott Community by providing the residents a way to recycle and reuse items locally that may have otherwise been thrown out or sent to another charity.  When visiting Big Blue Bargains, you can expect to find gently used clothing and accessories for adults and children.  We also have books, dvds, sports equipment, unique and antique items, and a variety of household goods and decorations.

The thrift shop is thriving due to the dedication of the weekly volunteers, the committment of the board members and their many years of volunteer contributions in the Swampscott Public Schools system and the Community, and all of our customers.  Stop by…you never know what you’ll find!

Raising $$ for the Swampscott Public Schools, working with the community to recycle & reuse!
